February 2012

Following great success at the West Leinster Championships, where our girls won 3 out of 4 team gold medals along with a bronze, all four teams travelled to the Leinster Championships in Santry on the 8th February, representing all ages and years of the school.

The cold blustery conditions didn’t deter the girls from giving it their all and despite some very good individual performances from our novice 1st and 2nd years, the minor and junior teams had to be satisfied with 11th and 5th team placings, respectively.

Our Intermediate and Senior teams though, kept their focus and lined up determined.

With the promise of a trip to Galway, if in the top three teams, and a cup of hot chocolate at the finish, at stake, the gun went.

The pink vests of Mount Sackville’s Intermediate and Senior cross country teams stood out again, bringing home team Gold and Bronze respectively and their place in the All Ireland final in Galway.

The hot chocolate tasted extra chocolatey that afternoon.

Our intermediate and senior teams travel to Galway to compete in the All Ireland Championships on the 10th of March, representing Mount Sackville and Leinster.

We wish both teams the best of luck and all support is welcome.

January 2012

Mount Sackvillle's cross country running teams were in action the Phoenix park on Thursday 26th January 2012 and came away with 3 out of a possible 4 Gold team medals along with a Bronze, in the Minor, Junior, Intermediate and Senior age groups.

To win team medals in all age groups is an incredible feat for any school and is rarely achieved.

The fact that three of the four teams got Gold, is even more remarkable.

There were many great individual performances which contributed to these excellent team results.

All four teams now travel to the Leinster Championships in two weeks time.

Our teams are as follows;
Minor, Junior, Inter, Senior

Rachel Dunne, Vanessa O'Connor, Sarah Hawkshaw, Olwen Kennedy,
Molly Donegan, Caoimhe Dowdall, Aoibhinn Dowdall, Catherine Conroy,
Aoife Carty, Emily O'Neill, Laura Cullen, Shauna Roche,
Dearbhla Murphy, Rhiannon Gilvary, Clodagh Fulston, Orla Nangle,
Ellen Gillespie, Leah McNamara, Louise Hanlon,
Emily Keenan, Keeva Farrely, Alessandra Mcgee, Maeve Flood, Claire Cronin,
Sarah Barron, Grace McEntee, Rachel Murray/Moran.

Our 'help' team who ran around almost as much as the runners on the day were;

Well done to all.

Ms Corrigan.
