The Musical
The TY production of ‘Annie’ sold out for all three performances on October 22nd, 23rd and 24th. The cast have been extremely busy learning lines, perfecting songs, and rehearsing since the start of September. Our spectacular cast consists of Isobel Ryan as Annie, Lauren McGuirk as Warbucks and Abigail O’ Loughlin as Grace.

We have many more fabulous characters in the show which you will see on the night. Of course, none of this would be possible without Ms. Gannon’s, Ms. Forristal’s, Ms. O’ Flaherty’s and Ms. Black’s, hard work along with our excellent choreographer Sarah Gannon-Perez, and Sarah Keenan helping backstage.

The Story
‘Annie’ the musical is about a young girl, who is optimistic in a bleak world. She lives in an orphanage with the cruel, despicable Ms. Hannigan, played by Molly Lee. She treats the orphans terribly, diminishing and overworking them every day, feeding them scraps of disgusting food. Despite their best effort, she always finds a way to criticise them. She does not fail to conceal her hatred for Annie, as Annie’s sunny disposition shines amidst the grim reality of a 1930s New York City orphanage.

Annie is determined to find her parents, irrespective of the eleven years that have elapsed. She is adamant to find them and wants to take it into her own hands when she realises, they are not going to come and collect her from the orphanage. When the opportunity presents itself to potentially change the life of an orphan, by accepting a billionaires request to live in his mansion for a fortnight, she thoroughly enjoys her stay. Ms. Hannigan is reluctant to let Annie go until threatened.

Ms. Hannigan, her brother Rooster and his friend conduct a plan to forge documents that say that Annie is their child. By doing this, they will receive the fifty-thousand-dollar reward for Annie finding her parents, which will be paid by Warbucks. During this time, Annie discovers the truth about her parents. When the two weeks have come to an end, Warbucks decides that he wants to adopt Annie. The musical concludes with Ms Hannigan getting arrested for fraud, along with her brother and his friend. The orphans get Christmas presents and are told they will start attending school. Everyone is happy and it is a lovely ending to the show.

The Music
Many songs in ‘Annie’ are very well known, especially ‘Tomorrow,’ ‘Maybe,’ and ‘It’s the Hard Knock Life.’ ‘Little Girls’ sung by Ms. Hannigan is also another example of a well-known song from the musical. There is an incredible band that will be playing throughout the performance, including our very own Mr. O’Reilly on drums. Well done to all involved!
