We are thrilled to announce that four of our outstanding students—Amelia Simmons Rea (1st year), Molly O'Leary, Aoife Brennan, and Ariadna Herrero Rueda (TY) were accepted to participate in the prestigious BT Young Scientist exhibition at the RDS.

This year's exhibition included 550 projects from 219 schools showcasing research and innovation in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). The 2024 exhibition marks the 60th anniversary of the BTYSTE which has become one of the longest running events of its kind in the world and Mount Sackville's participation in the event is remarkable achievement and a testament to the dedication and curiosity of our students.

The three unique projects that secured a place in this esteemed event explored diverse topics.

Amelia Simmons Rea's project delved into the fascinating realm of neurodivergence, examining its impact on vocational career choices.

Accompanied by their dedicated teachers, Ms. Byrne and Ms. Simmons, our students represented our school with enthusiasm and expertise. They have met President Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at their stands and presented their projects with passion and professionalism.

Mount Sackville's 1st year and Transition Year students visited RDS to support their innovative colleagues and tour the exhibition where over 1,100 secondary school student finalists displayed their projects on Technology, Biological & Ecological Sciences, Chemical, Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Social & Behavioural Sciences, Health & Wellbeing.

BT Ireland estimates that in the last 60 years some 150,000 young people have taken part putting forward over 100,000 project ideas, and over the past 35 years, 17 of the overall exhibition winners have won first place at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists.

We are immensely proud of Amelia, Ariadna, Aoife and Molly and congratulate them and their teachers Ms Simmons and Ms Byrne on their accomplishments.
