Emmanuel
On Wednesday, 4th March, the Mount Sackville Junior Choir set off for Glasnevin to participate in the Emmanuel 2026 concert. This annual event brings together young voices from schools across Dublin to celebrate music and community through song.
The day began with a morning rehearsal and workshop at the Church of Our Lady of Victories, where all the singers formed a mass choir and participated in icebreaker sessions getting to know their counterparts from other schools. Lunch was enjoyed al fresco in the grounds of Dublin City University.
Later, the choir made their way to the Helix for a dress rehearsal, joining the on-stage band for powerful performances of songs including 'Heal the World' and 'Fix You', as well as more reflective liturgical pieces such as 'Where your Treasure is' and 'Mo Ghrá Thú, a Thiarna'.
After a break for dinner we took our seats in the Helix as the audience arrived. The concert showcased an impressive blend of talent, as the combined voices of hundreds of young singers created an unforgettable atmosphere. We are especially proud of our seven singers who were selected for solos by the concert organizers: Erin Watters, Katie Staunton and Ella Smith from 3rd year; Anna Derham and Ava Carberry from 2nd year; and Huda Cheema and Pixie Blue Caesar from 1st year.
Bravi tutti!
A heartfelt thank you to Ms Keogh, Mr Ryan, Ms Simmons and Ms McGlinn for their support and supervision throughout the day. It was a particularly nostalgic experience for Ms. Keogh, who remembers attending Emmanuel concerts as a student herself!
A huge gratiture and appreciation to our amazing director of Junior Choir, Dr Aine Mulvey, for inspiring and encouraging our students.
Overall, it was a day filled with music, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories.
