Do you know what a prefect is? Do you know the roles of a prefect? On Friday the 22nd of September the 6th Year students who applied for the position of a prefect this academic year gathered in our Assembly Hall to meet Mount Sackville’s Principal, Mrs Cuddihy-Higgins, Deputy Principal, Ms McGlinn and our Prefect Coordinator, Mrs O’Donovan and learn about the prefectship. In Mount Sackville we strive to create a community of learning and we work together to support our students to achieve their God given human potential. Prefects are leaders who serve this learning community by giving of their talents, time, and energy to create a safe and happy environment for students to flourish. Prefects act as role models and embody the schools core principles of faith, hope and love.

That morning each prefect was assigned their very own prefect role such as prefect of the library, prefect of debating, prefect of sports, prefect of music, class prefect and prefect of ethos. In their roles prefects will display Mount Sackville’s excellence by creating a caring school community based on respect, integrity, honesty and justice. Each student was called up one by one to be appointed by the Principal and receive their 6th year prefect blue and red striped tie. Each and every prefect now also wears their crested prefect badge and is easily identifiable to all students, staff and visitors. All the 6th year prefects are honoured to aid the whole Mount Sackville community this school year.
